Dismantling and assembly of a starter do not represent complexity if will be guided fig. 8.5. At check of a technical condition of a starter the following knots and details are exposed to control: shchetochno-collector knot, a starter drive, the traction relay, the starter electric motor, a reducer (at existence).
At first examine shchetochno-collector knot. Measure height of brushes and effort of their pressing to a collector by springs. If brush height less than 7 mm or are found its mechanical damages, replace a brush. Brushes should freely, without jammings, move in shchetkoderzhatel. The direction of action of shchetochny springs should coincide with an axis of a shchetkoderzhatel. Effort of a spring check a dynamometer. The surface of a collector should be pure, equal and not have a considerable podgoraniye. If the podgoraniye in such a way is not eliminated or strong wear of a collector takes place, pierce it on the lathe.

The drive of a starter should freely, without jammings to move on a shaft and to come back to a starting position a returnable spring. At the complicated moving of a drive clear an anchor shaft of dirt and grease with engine oil. Axial люфт a shaft of an anchor should be in limits (0,3±0,15) mm. Radial люфт a shaft in bearings it should be almost imperceptible. At considerable radial люфте a shaft replace worn-out plugs in starter covers. New plugs before installation impregnate in engine oil (SAE 30/40).
Examine an anchor and a stator about breaks and podgoraniye traces.
